Who told you that? The federal filing deadline has been delayed until May 17. But only some states have delayed the deadlines----so you might still need to get your state return filed by the original April 15 deadline.
And actually you can efile until Oct 15, 2021 when the IRS closes Efiling.
Oh I see there is a free expert review if you are in the Online Basic Version by March 27. See the offer at the top of this page
No, usually the filing deadline is April 15 without filing an extension but the IRS has pushed the deadline back to May 17, 2021. Please see State income tax deadlines if you need to file earlier because your federal return has to be accepted to be able to e-file your state return.
Individual taxpayers can also postpone federal income tax payments for the 2020 tax year due on April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021, without penalties and interest, regardless of the amount owed. This postponement applies to individual taxpayers, including individuals who pay self-employment tax. Penalties, interest and additions to tax will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances as of May 17, 2021. Individual taxpayers will automatically avoid interest and penalties on the taxes paid by May 17. Please see Tax Day for individuals extended to May 17: Treasury, IRS extend filing and payment deadline for more details.
