It should...but you must always Edit your W-2 after importing to check each and every box against what is on your paper W-2 form.
IF uploaded/imported from the employer's W-2 import site...it's usually correct.
If "uploaded" from a PDF or Picture...the data can commonly be messed up all sorts of ways.....$$ in wrong boxes, wrong box 12 or box 14 codes...sometimes better to enter the data manually
If you import your W-2 then all of the data on it should go into the software, including the 401k information. But be careful when you import the W-2. You still need to check and make sure for yourself that all of it is correct. Compare the information that entered into the software with the actual W-2.
Yes, your 401K contributions will show in box 12, with a code D if it is a traditional 401K. If your upload worked correctly, you shouldn't need to do anything else, but please do check before filing.
If you have a different type of retirement plan, the amount will still be in box 12, but you may have code E, F, G, H, AA, BB, or EE.
