Ahhhh..so it was Oregon

...it's important to tell us what state your are discussing or we could have given you an answer form some other state with a similar issue..like (nevermind)

The OR refund change occurred because your Oregon Statewide transit tax entry in box 14 of your W-2 was improperly inflating your OR income deductions on line 5 of the Schedule OR-A.  The software change removed that improper deduction from line 5 of the Sched OR-A and corrected your tax file to be "more correct".

Is it perfectly correct now?  well...Maybe...

IF your e-filed Federal tax return used the "Free" version, or used a higher version with a Federal Std Deduction....then all is probably OK now, as long as you (or they) did not make some kind of other error.

Nahhhhh...would have to be Massachusetts...or maybe Missouri?

It is Oregon. I didn’t see any hiccups online when I went searching initially for an answer.

there was something  about itemized deductions that when you enter a zero the program changed it to 10,000 or something weird like that.

See this.  Even though it is about a refund changing to less that would be the same as a tax due  increasing
