When I e-file my state return, says It won't transmit because the payer's # I entered they say is wrong. I triple checked it and it is right. HELP

I am trying to e-file my state return.  When I try to transmit my filing it says that the payer's # is wrong for my wife income.  I have triple checked it and the # is right.  How can I get it to e-file.  I have paid for the e-file already or else I would mail it in.  Please help

If you are using the online version, as indicated by the icon next to your question, there is no charge for e-filing.  The charge is for the use of the program and is the same whether mailing or e-filing.  If the id number is not recognized or validated, you will, indeed, have to file by mail.
