When filling out my tax return I downloaded the forms and completed them and sent them e file and state by mail. I realized I filled out last years forms 2021 not 2022.

I filled out incorrect year forms and sent in.  What should I do?

Even if you somehow used  downloaded  2021 software ----it is impossible to e-file a 2021 tax return now.  E-filing has been permanently closed for 2021 since October of 2022.   So you could not have e-filed a 2021 return successfully.    If you printed and mailed the state a 2021 return with 2022 information on it, you will need to amend that return after the state processes it.

As for 2022---you can still use the desktop software for 2022 or you can use online software to prepare en e-file a 2022 return until mid-October of 2023.

Or----do you mean that you used the 2022 CD/download and entered 2021 income information?  Please explain clearly what forms/software you used and what tax year's income you entered.
