What will happen if I try to e-file after I've mailed my tax forms already?

Why are you considering doing that? Do you WANT to confuse the IRS by putting two tax returns into the system at the same time and delay your refund for months?

Ahh I see. The option disappeared to e-file when it became available to file and I thought my only option was to mail , so I did and now it's taking forever and will be even longer because of other factors also. So, I didn't know if I could just override the mailed in forms by e-filing. So bummed. Last time I do my taxes on my own. Thx
