What version of turbo tax do I need?

Hi, I need to file my Federal and state taxes(I think I can file my state taxes for free). I have a w-2 and a 1095 A tax form .My mother is on Social security and she need to file as well .Last year I used home and business but it's expensive. What is the cheapest non free version that is easy to use that will work? Thanks in advance.

You may be able to prepare your tax returns for Free.  You should start with the Free version, and if your situation requires you to upgrade, TurboTax will prompt you to upgrade.  The level just above Free is Deluxe.  You mother also may be able to file for Free, as that version will handle Social Security income.  
 

The following situations are covered with TurboTax Free (assuming no added tax complexity):

• W-2 income
• Limited interest and dividend income reported on a 1099-INT or 1099-DIV
• IRS standard deduction
• Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC)
• Child tax credits
• Student loan interest deduction

Situations not covered:

• Itemized deductions
• Unemployment income reported on a 1099-G
• Business or 1099-NEC income
• Stock sales
• Rental property income
• Credits, deductions and income reported on other forms or schedules (for example, income related to crypto investments)

3 years ago the free version wouldn't do it. As soon as I got to 1095 a it said I needed a upgrade. Has this changed? Last couple of years I used home and business that someone else bought . .If I buy a product I want it to work for sure .Thanks
