Do you have something in box 18 or 19?
I do have something in box 19, but the W2 I received from work has the locality blocked out. All it says is this -- "**********"
Then ask the employer. If you have information in boxes 18 and 19, you need something for box 20. You need the name of the town, city, etc. that local tax was withheld for.
You should know what locality your are paying tax to. Type in that name or an abbreviation. Or type in anything. Unless you need to file a local tax return, the only thing TurboTax does with that is put it on schedule A, if you itemize.
It depends on what state are you in. For example, in Ohio, you only file a city tax return for the city you live in. But, you employer will withhold tax for the city you work in.
I would assume that my locality is the city I'm working in, especially since it's listed as the locality for my second job. For some reason, my main job just doesn't have it listed.
