What should I do if it says that my employers state ID number needs to be fixed to file my taxes but when i fix it the error still shows up?

when i get to the filing part it reviews my state taxes and says that there is an error with my employers state ID number (the 14 digit one) and that i need to go back to the W2 and fix it but when i do it still shows that there is something wrong with it.

You can try leaving the state ID off of your entry, it won't affect your income tax.

Two thing Utah folks have been encountering.  You may be dealing with one or both of these.

1) the leading "UT" is supposed to be in a separate part of box 15...not in the number half.  This usually happens to folks who take a picture of their W-2, or upload a PDF file, and the software mis-interprets where the values go.

or...more commonly

2) the last 3 letters of the number , need to be a specific upper or lower "case"....either "wth" or "WTH".

Problem is, we've gone back and forth on this so much, I can't remember which case is appropriate....whatever case you used, edit it and change it to the other case.

In some situations, the change does not "take" unless you blank out the entire number, click in another box, then come back to box 15 to re-enter it with the new final three letters.
