Who issued you the 1099-MISC? Does it contain your name and tax ID number?
If you received a 1099-MISC with your name and Social Security number, you should presume that it will be reported to the IRS and that the IRS will be expecting the income to be reported on your tax return.
If the income is not yours, you may contact the issuer of the 1099-MISC. The issuer may or may not correct the form.
Depending upon the nature of the income reported, you may be able to report the income, then remove the same amount of income from your tax return.
Make sure that you retain any documentation that justifies such an action. Post here to request information about a reversal.
