What should I do if I bought the software for filing previous tax returns but the app keeps closing and deleting my information when I add the employer number?

Provided the software is for the year 2019 or newer .

A couple things to try.

1)  make sure you run the software update.

then

2)  On the first screen that asks for the employer number...DO NOT put it in....move on to the full form and put it in one of the fields provided there.  The first request for the employer number is there only to (potentially) import the W-2 from a W-2 provider, AND prior year W-2 imports are not available anymore, so you must enter the W-2 data manually anyhow.

That should do it.

But if not....

3)   do a full reboot of yoru computer and try again

or

4)   Call "Customer Support"
