It doesn't really matter. The IRS requires we ask you. Enter the one you currently have. 

• The most important thing is to enter all your income, if you're required to file an income tax return. 

An occupation is what you do for work, but if you’re retired, a student or a stay-at-home parent, that can be your occupation as well.
