It is the same as it was before the new tax codes were enacted.

Standard deductions for 2017 

  • Single - $6,350 add $1,550 if age 65 or older
  • Married Filing Separately - $6,350 add $1,250 if age 65 or older
  • Married Filing Jointly - $12,700 add $1,250 for each spouse age 65 or older
  • Head of Household - $9,350 add $1,550 if age 65 or older

The new $24,000 amount is for 2018; not 2017

What is the Married filing together standard deduction for 2017 now this new bill is now law

but you lose the Personal Exemptions ($8,100 for two people) in 2018 as well.
