What is the difference between the home & business editions having two versions(1) home & self employed (2) personal & business for 2016 turbotax?

The "Self Employed" version is the Online-only software where you prepare your taxes with thru your browser...and renamed from last year's H&B.  This is pretty much the same as last year's Online H&B , but they are messing with the Online software interview, supposedly to improve the way the taxpayers are presented with questions about their income.

The product "Home & Business" is the Desktop/Download software, and remains essentially unchanged from last year's desktop H&B.

Opinion:  IF you've been using Desktop software in prior years, you won't like using the Online software, no matter what they call it.   But you do need to make sure you backup your files to offline storage.  We get hundreds of requests for lost files from people whose computers, or disks crashed...and TTX doesn't have their files.

Online software will keep your prior year's files stored for you....as long as you keep the same online account..AND as long as you continue to pay for the software each year...but Online can only prepare one person's (or one MFJ) tax return...no test files....no Forms Mode...
