Were you legally separated?  Are you the administrator of your spouse’s estate, or someone else?

Not legally separated.  Our son is executor of spouse’s estate.

You can file jointly or separately.  Joint filing usually saves more money.  Your son will sign for your spouse.  You will have to print and mail your returns, because your spouse’s SSN will be blocked from e-filing to prevent fraud.

For tax year 2018 you can file as either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately since your spouse passed away in 2018.
