What do you mean "included my stimulus checks in my taxes"?
The stimulus payments are not income and not reported on a tax return as income. If you included them as income how and where in the program did you include those payments as income?
You were required to report the stimulus payments received in the Federal Review section of the program. But this was only to determine if you were eligible for a Recovery Rebate Credit, the payments were not entered as income if you reported those payment in Federal Review.
You do not have to do anything. @DoninGA is correct, the stimulus payments will automatically not be taxed at the federal level. However, it depends on the state of residency whether it will be taxed. For example, Oregon will tax it.
The stimulus payments are reported in the return in case you did not get the full amount. If there is an amount that you are eligible for and have not received, then it is included in the Recovery Rebate Credit. If you received both payments, then this Credit will calculate accurately as 0.
To return to this area of your return for the Recovery Rebate Credit, if it has not yet been filed, follow these steps:
If you have already filed, download the PDF of your return and scroll to page 2, Line 30 to see what was reported as the Recovery Rebate Credit.
