We scheduled auto payment for 4/15/19 when filing, but have had an accountant work on changes to our return. We're sending checks instead. How do we cancel auto payment?

We scheduled auto payment for 4/15/19 via Turbo Tax when filing, but have since had an accountant work on changes to our return. We're sending checks instead. How do we cancel the auto payment that's scheduled in Turbo Tax?

If you filed through TurboTax, you can't file another 1040 again this year. You can only file a 1040X amended return

Make sure this accountant knows that you filed, and if needed, the accountant can help you file an amended return. (TurboTax can do that also)

If you now owe additional tax, you can mail that in with your 1040X (amended return) but the auto payment you scheduled on the original return will still occur.

This is not something TurboTax arranges or has any control over. Once the information is transmitted to the IRS, TurboTax has no access to your information.

I suggest you only pay the difference, which is the amount the 1040X will show.
