We got married in 2016. We filed taxes early as married filing jointly. Can we change to married filing separately before 4/18/2017?
We didnt know we could file seperate. It appears we would get a refund vs having to pay in if we filed seperate.

Yes you can.
You will need to file an amended return to do that and print and file by mail for each of you.
I hope this helps

Only if you get your amended returns filed by the due date. In general, after the due date you can not change from joint to separately. See IRS Form 1040-X.
