We are a married couple and believe we may save significantly by filing separately. If we file separately do we need to create two turbotax accounts and do two returns?

We make the same income. We have no kids, we are not homeowners, and we are not in school.

yes you need two a/c's but they can have the same e-mail address.   without any itemized deductions I doubt that you'll save any money doing two married filing separate returns vs one joint return.  by the way should one itemize both must itemize.  you really won't know if you save by MFS unless you also do a joint return.

@Anonymous Thanks so much for answering so quickly. I just saw it this morning. That's very interesting! We both did standard deduction and TurboTax is saying we will actually save just under $500 of what we owe buy filing married but separately (I was shocked by this!). We don't qualify for any of usual credits - we're not homeowners, we have no kids, we're not in college, and we make nearly the same amount of income.
