W4 listed 12 allowances, I changed it to 6. I don't think enough federal taxes are being taken out. I don't want to owe when I file taxes. Can I have more withheld?

Well, you are almost to the end of 2017 now, so a change in mid-December will not do much for you for your 2017 tax return.

I forgot to mention that I have only been working since mid October due to school. My income will be between 5k and 6k for the year

OK--that was a pretty important detail to omit! If that was all of your income, you will not owe any taxes. Will anyone else be claiming you as a dependent? How have you supported yourself and your family on less than $6K?
