W2 went to wrong person, how do I start over

Sounds like you just need to edit a W2, not start over.

To add or edit a W2, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into your TurboTax account
  2. From your federal return
  3. Click on Wages & Income
  4. Click Review/Edit
  5. Next to Job (W-2), click Edit/Add

If you've already entered a W-2, select Edit for the W-2 you want to correct, or the Add another W-2 button , if you need to enter an additional W-2.

When entering w2 information, my spouse’s name was accidentally associated with one of my w2s. Upon correcting this mistake, my taxes due amount increased by nearly $500. Why would this be if we are filing jointly?

I obviously don't know if this is your situation (since we in the Community cannot see your private tax data), but one possibility is that since both W-2s belong to the same taxpayer, that excess Social Security tax was withheld. Since this is probably two different employers, this excess appears on line 10 of Schedule 3, increasing your refund or reducing artificially your tax due.

But when you associate the two W-2s with the correct person, then if neither person's W-2 shows excess Social Security tax withheld, line 10 will go back to zero, where it normally is.
