W-2 Box 15 employer ID-1 entered is invalid for Electronic Filing

I am working on the Federal Refund, the W-2 is from "J&J SERVICES, INC."  and during the smart check, it says Box15 employer  ID-1 entered is invalid for electronic filing, a valid state ID number must consist of 6 numbers, cannot be all zero. For Kentucky, the Employer's state ID no is 00-xxxxxx-x on the W-2, x is a number. I am wondering what number I need to enter here. Thanks.

I don't know where that employer got their number from.  Having said that, you probably need to enter the middle 6 numbers.  The "00" at the beginning are not recognized at the beginning and should be dropped, and the end number is not included with the state ID for e-filing either.

If that doesn't work for e-filing, you can either ask the company to reissue your KY W2 or mail in your KY return along with a copy of your W2.  While mailing it in takes longer, it is the best way to resolve an e-file reject that can't be resolved another way.

And it is very possible that your employer or their payroll did not input the correct information on your W2 also.
