TTax offers me to auto-import my 1099 from Vanguard, makes me sign into TurboTax online and authenticate two different ways, takes me to a Vanguard page where it asks for my account number and doc ID. I enter those, the browser page says "Connection complete! Success! We got your tax data. You can now return to TurboTax."
I go back to TTax, the only options are Back, Continue, Skip Import. Both Back and Skip Import take you backwards. "Continue" just launches the process again; opens a new browser page, asking again for the Vanguard account number and doc ID.
I did check after both Back and Skip Import to see if there was any evidence of the import success, but no.
Can this be fixed please?
PS I am trying to add 1099 Consolidated and using TTax Desktop on Windows, and Chrome.
UPDATE: I had the same issue on Betterment so it's not just a Vanguard thing, it's an Intuit thing. I was able to get around it a) by switching to Edge, then allowing local network/device access when prompted (did this for Vanguard) and then/also by changing the setting in Chrome to allow access after I'd previously denied it (for Betterment a couple weeks later). Helpful instructions on that are, courtesy of davidahlers:

I am having the same problem Also using Turbotax desktop (Premier) and Chrome.
I am having the same problem. It says the import was completed, but nothing was updated. Turbotax Premier Windows 11. Longtime Turbotax user. I enter account number and document id, but am never asked for my Vanguard username/password. Don't understand how Turbotax can import without knowing Vanguard username/Password.
From reading other posts here I found a workaround that if you set your default browser as Edge, it seems to work. I tried this and it worked for me. But obviously TTax still needs to fix it in Chrome - both the fact that it doesn't work, and that it gives you a success message in the middle of it failing to work.
Changing the default browser fixed the Vanguard 1099 import issue for me, thank you.
Changed browser from chrome to edge and it still does NOT work for me, Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.
This may be a blind hog finding an acorn but here's what I found:
The first time I tried to transfer a 1099 a popup window came up. I have not saved the contents but basically it asked me to let Intuit share my network devices. Since I couldn't tell what the window was about so I checked "NO." That attempt to transfer the 1099 failed as did subsequent attempts.
I used the suggestion to set up Edge as the default browser and rebooted. The popup window came up again and this time I checked "YES." I was able transfer 3 1099's with no trouble.
I reset my default browser to Chrome and rebooted. As an experiment I attempted to transfer a 1099 to a dummy tax return. The popup window came up again, I checked "YES" again and was able to transfer a 1099 in Chrome.
It is not clear from the popup window what you are agreeing to but it seems a "YES" response is required for a transfer. I don't know the scope of the permission I gave Intuit or where copies of my 1099's may reside, but I did get everything transferred to TurboTax.
The phrase "....let Intuit share my network devices." gives me pause. What network devices does Intuit/TurboTax need access to, and why?
That worked for me also. Second time today that Edge came through when using Chrome failed me.
Tried this trick. Still does not work. I am getting sick of Turbo Tax. Why I am spending so much of my time to get this **bleep** thing working, which was working fine last couple of years. Stupid software
Import failed multiple times with Brave browser (a Chrome based browser), but after making Firefox my default browser I imported Vanguard successfully.
Yep a couple posts here reminded me - in Edge I also the first time got a popup "Intuit wants to connect to all your local devices on your network". Seemed very sketchy so I said no. Import failed. Then I tried again and said yes, and the import worked.
So my guess is Chrome might be automatically saying no to this sketchy request.
It is as noted the kind of thing that makes you trust TTax less and less. I have to use TaxSlayer for some volunteer work and maybe that's worth a longer look one of these days.
Yah. I am also getting tired of this software.
I am now getting a different error, "invalid signin invalid signin (103)". I changed my Vanguard password and tried again with the same result. I have no problems logging directy into my Vanguard account. As a test, I entered an incorrect document id and it failed as I expected (but with a different error). This indicates that I am connecting to Vanguard but my documents cannot be imported. Is there anything I need to do on the Vanguard end, i.e. give permission to Turbotax, etc? Am using windows 11 and edge browser. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't get the popup. How can I force the popup to appear when I use edge. I looked at broswer settings but could not find anything concerning the popup. I am on tubotax desktop premier on windows 11.
