US tax reporting - How to report Canadian pension income reported on NR4 with code 39 (from a Canadian company) using desktop Turbotax 2024

Filing US taxes, using Turbotax premier 2024.  I have a NR4 form with income code 39, which is Canadian pension income from a Canadian company, I used "Retirement Plans and Social Security > Canadian Registered Pension Income. "  for last year Tax (as per some posts here), but I don't think that was correct.   Please help me figure out the correct way of reporting the "Income", and the "Tax withholding" on the NR4 form, on my Turbotax premier desktop Mac version.

Yes, the way you reported your Canadian Pension would be correct, if you want to exclude your pension income from State Taxes.

Since it is a pension from a private company, you could report it as 'Other Reportable Income' but you would then have to manually exclude it in your state interview from state tax (if that applies in your state; you can check your state's DOR to verify).

The income is taxed the same, either way.

Be sure to go to the Foreign Tax Credit section to report any Canadian tax you paid on this income.
