The deadline for tax filing is approaching. It looks like a common issue(link) that the desktop version doesn't work !!!!!!
WE REALLY NEED a fix.
For folks who purchased desktop version, do you think is there a way we can escalate this issue to a broader audience?

Scrolling through that very long post this guy in the link spent a day on the phone with Intuit and ended up restoring his laptop to default security settings then it worked. Other users in the thread reported "Success! I removed the two recent copies (2025) of Microsoft Visual C++ and left the others (2022) installed. Turbo Tax installed and activated. I have started my return. Thanks for the suggested solutions to the problem."
So if you've already tried all the suggested things in that thread (not that I would advise wiping the entire machine just to get Turbotax working...) and still hitting a wall, it seems pretty slim chance of you getting "a fix" for this type of issue, it's probably time for Plan B.
I have different problems with the installation and then it just wouldn't run at all.
As an example:
I installed, and when I started the product it asked for the code required to run, that was fine. I provided the code and started doing some work, saved the progress and exited. Next time I started TT, it asked for the code again, so I gave the code again and my previous work didn't show in the list. The third time I started it, it asked for the code again and I noticed that it showed that I had done 2 of my 5 installations, so I started investigating.
At the end this work for me:
- Made sure my user was an admin user.
- I uninstalled TT and manually removed the Intuit directory from the C:\ProgramData folder.
- There were two DLL's:
- - Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) - 14.44.35211
-- Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable (x64) - 14.50.35719
- Dates indicated that v14 had been installed on the day I installed TT (It actually asked for permission to do it)
- I uninstalled v14 and did "repair" on the other one.
- I installed TT again, giving permission to install the DLL.
- It worked, and I was able to do my taxes.
Please note that I have all standard Windows protection (Defender, Firewall, ..) enabled, but I don't use any third party protection. I uninstalled McAfee since I got my new PC.
Reading through multiple Intuit pages I found this, which is really troubling:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/troubleshoot-installati...
The article in that link recommends, among other things, to disable Windows Defender. But, after forcing people to move from Windows 10 to Windows 11 because security concerns, now they are asking to remove all the protection and, of course, work as an admin, for the the software to run. That is outrageous.
Quite frankly, that seems a pretty lay workaround for such a big company. Where they getting their recommendations from ChatGPT?
