You have to pay the 2017 TurboTax account fees before you will be able to access your prior year online tax returns.  Once the account fees have been paid you will have access to all current and prior year returns through October 2019.

To pay the TurboTax online account fees by credit card, without completing the 2017 return at this time, click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  On the next page, to pay by credit card, click Pay Now.  On the next screen just click on the Continue button.  The next screen will show a review of your Fees, click on Continue.  Complete the next screen to pay by credit card and click Continue.

I drive for Uber and they gave their contractors promotion to use TurboTax Self-Employed edition. Why do I need to pay?

Then you will need to complete and file your tax return and have the federal tax return accepted by the IRS before you will have access to the prior year returns.

I'm sorry, I might be missing something... Why would I need to complete and file my return to access my prior years? All my prior years are already filed and accepted. My 2015 was also self-employed edition.

Did you use the TurboTax online editions for your 2016 tax return and if so did you use either the Plus, Deluxe, Premier or Self-Employed editions?

No, for 2016 I used free edition

Since the 2016 online Free edition was used then access to prior year tax returns completed with the online editions expired after October 2017.

To access those prior year online editions you would have to use and pay for one of the 2017 online editions of either Plus, Deluxe, Premier or Self-Employed.  But since you are using the Self-Employed edition through a partner website where no payment is made for the edition, then access to the prior year online returns will not be available until after you file your tax return and it has been accepted by the IRS.

Since this is a user forum, you will need to contact TurboTax support concerning your access to the prior year online returns when using the partner discount.
