Our baby is due June 20. Can I request an extension and apply after the baby is born to claim the dependency?

A child can only be added as a dependent on a 2023 tax return if the child was born in 2023 or earlier. Since the child is not due to be born until June 2024 you can only report the child as your dependent on the 2024 tax return which you file in 2025.
