I'm able to important forms from other institutions, but not Schwab. Why is this? What can be done? It's too much to input by hand.

I just tried with no issues. contact support. Try schwab first. then Turbotax
as an alternative you can download as a pdf the 1099-B (directly from schwab not thru Turbotax). you can then enter summary totals in Turbotax. this requires you to submit by mail the 1099-B and IRS form 8453. which turbotax should complete but you'll need to print it out for mailing (not efiled). read the filing requirements
and if you don't have many sales entries with adjustments (wash sales, AMD, non-covered sales etc) you can enter those on a 1099 as "one by one" with the details, input the balance of your 1099-B as a sales summary, and no mailing 8453 to the IRS should be needed. I input all my 1099s, it doesn't take long - probably quicker than calling Schwab.
