No, it is not necessary. When the information is uploaded, it is automatically included by the bank. The IRS gets copies of all you income reporting forms.

In previous versions of TurboTax one would add the 1099-Int tax info such as payer's ID number, name, address etc.
None of this is asked for or how do you enter this in the TT 2020 version ?????
I cannot imagine that I just enter what I think the payers name is BOA or Bank of Arkansas etc with NO payer's number, address or identifier and then just sit back and hope they can figure it out ?
What's up with that ?
Thanks
I don't understand what you mean....when its uploaded the bank info is added.. How do they know whether BOA is Bank of America or Bank of Arkansas or Bank of Alaska unless I add the payers info that is on the 1099...and what is two or more accounts result in exactly the same interest payment ?
Seems a little impossible to me. I know the IRS gets the info from the institution and can match the amounts but what if there is around up/down error etc . Why do we no longer add the payers info ion the 1099
Yes, if you filed your prior year income tax return with Turbo Tax, you don't need to enter the payer information as most of your infomation were automatically downloaded for you. Your interest income reported on form 1099B can be imported directly from your bank or could be entered manually. You may follow the following steps if you desire to enter the interest income manually:
You may also import the information by following steps 1 through 4, then on step 5 click "Bring it over from my bank", then type the name of your bank, and your 1099B-INT will be imported into your income tax return.
You are supposed to be uploading my bank info, but it's not happening. I could type it in much faster, but you won't let me.
HELP!!!!!
Yes, you can manually enter your 1099-INT.
The entry process is the same regardless if you received from the IRS or a bank.
