I would be more than happy to help you get this fixed. As long as you have not filed it will be a fairly easy fix.

To edit a w-2 or other income:

  • Click Federal Taxes
  • Then click Wages & Income
  • On the Here's your W-2 info screen, click Delete next to the W-2 you want to change.
  • Continue through the interview to enter your W-2 information.

@TurboTaxTSJustinC maybe you can help me with the self employment package TT is forcing me to buy. I don't really need it. I have already tracked and totaled my expenses for the consulting work I did I really just need to input it. I don't need all these other benefits like scanning my credit cards etc. I would like to just advance with TT delux

Sure you can change that, however because they use different forms the only way to downgrade is to clear&startover.
You can find that option under My account, and once you've paid or filed it can't be changed.

I'm at the begging and getting hung up on the window that pops up and asks if I want to upgrade to the Self Employment version or gives me the option of saying "I don't have expenses" I do have expenses. If I click on "I dont have expenses" Box will I be able to input those expenses?

That really depends on the expenses and how much of them there are. Deluxe handles normal expenses, like driving miles, and basic costs. It does not handle the more complicated business losses, depreciation costs, or losses in transactions.

Yeah it won't let me advance with the simple assertion that I don't have expenses... It kicks me back to another question about if I have expenses again and when I say yes it sends me to the upgrade screen

Generally the Deluxe will only handle expenses related to regular work where Self employed handles small business expenses such as, start up expenses, rental property income, sole propriety expenses.
The initial questions are there to get you to the edition that will work best for you.
Try finding an option that says see more or see all, this let's you choose all things that apply to you. You may also want to try not choosing the self employed option.
Do keep in mind, you can get it to start on the free edition, and still get jammed up if you try to claim something that requires a form in a higher edition.
