TurboTax Refile due to Rejection, but still didn't attach the form needed.

My federal (and state) were rejected with message:

SA-F1040-002 - If Schedule A (Form 1040), 'OtherThanByCashOrCheckAmt' is greater than 500, then Form 8283 must be attached.

I went through it again to, what I thought, would kick off attaching the 8283 form.  I proceeded by clicking "Refile Returns" and after it transmitted, I downloaded and looked at the form and it still didn't have that form included.  Is this a bug? Or?

Mine came back rejected today as well for the same reason - using the TurboTax desktop version.  I had four donations that were valued under $500 to the same charity.  There was also a note that it could not be re-filed until 1/31/2026.  Did you get that as well?  As soon as I opened the program all the "we'll guide you on how to fix it" disappeared, leaving me fix it somehow by myself.  I think it's a system glitch.

This is in fact a program glitch.  There is now message stating that form 8283 is not available and you can sign up for an email alert when it is ready. 

I wonder if TurboTax will try to shaft us and make us pay for another filing charge for state returns even though the problem was from their end?

Interesting.  I listed out groups of GoodWill donations that did go over the $500 mark some, but each line item I entered was only $10 - $50 depending. But I guess they go off the total amount of non-cash donations (partner moved in and we had a ton of stuff after a garage sale).  

I do remember seeing that January 31st message, and assumed since continuing had the Refile Returns button, that it may had not been a problem.  I'm suspecting it'll get rejected again...

I would be pretty upset if they charged again.  Luckily when I did refile, it showed my payment made, so we'll see.

I had multiple donations to the same charity, but the grand total was under $500, so for me it shouldn't have mattered that the 8283 isn't available yet!

I filed on Jan 24th and got this error code on the 28th. It said wait until after the 31st to refile so I waited and refiled on Feb 1st, but it was rejected again with the same error code. I called a TurboTax representative today and waited on hold for 35 minutes, but the guy was not helpful at all. He didn't really listen to what I said and told me that I probably made an error and to go back and check. I tried explaining the error code said it was a Turbo Tax error and he just doubled down on it being my mistake. I want to refile, but not sure if it's too soon. The error code says "This return was not e-filed due to a timing issue or a processing error that has been corrected. Open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing. If the reject continues you will need to print and file this return by mail."

I also refiled and was rejected. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with TurboTax yesterday. The person I was with had the decency to not say it was my fault, but she did get callus when I started getting frustrated. She finally involved a supervisor who just said to refile, which made no sense since nothing had changed. I did it anyway and hoth returns were accepted. IMO - TTax had an error in their Form 8283s that they fixed behind the scenes and don't want to admit it was their fault.
