TurboTax Premium 2025 E-File Credit Card Month Entry Does Not Allow Change

I use the TurboTax 2025 Premium desktop software (Amazon download). I have completed my Federal and State filings and wish to e-File. Now, I just need to pay for that e-file. However, I cannot change the month for the credit card entry. Unless I have a credit card with expiration month of February (I do not) I cannot change to any other month. I am able to change all other fields. Entering another credit card does not help. I have restarted the software entirely and even rebooted my computer.

I have read through many other entries on this community forum about this very issue. However, the "tweaky" work-around answers did not help either.  (E.g., "Click into the credit card number field, click Tab key into the Month field, then use up and down keys and <ENTER> key to select the correct month.") This does not work, nor do any other ways of using the keyboard instead of the mouse to work around this. Clearly, the Customer Service people do not talk with the software people, since the issue has been brought up for at least 5 years now by others on this forum. I need a way to pay for this without spending an additional $40 to process it out of my federal return.

TurboTax Premium 2025 E-File Credit Card Month Entry Does Not Allow Change

Here are the three things that other users have used to bypass this specific error:

Strangely, this often affects the selection but not the scrolling.

  1. Click into the Month dropdown box.
  2. Do not try to click on 09–12 with your mouse cursor.
  3. Instead, use the physical scroll wheel on your mouse (or swipe with two fingers on a laptop trackpad) to scroll down to the correct month.
  4. Once the correct month is highlighted, press the Enter key on your keyboard rather than clicking it.

The mouse click is often what triggers the the error in the field.

  1. Click into the Credit Card Number field.
  2. Use the Tab key on your keyboard to jump to the Expiration Month field.
  3. Immediately type the two digits (e.g., 11) without using your mouse at all.
  4. Tab again to move to the Year field.

If you are using the online version, this is often caused by a "script error" in your browser's cached data.

  1. Open a New Incognito Window.
  2. Log back into TurboTax and go straight to the payment screen.
  3. Often, the "fresh" session in Incognito will allow the dropdown to function properly.

Thank you for the reply. I have seen this answer reposted a number of times to this question for others. Unfortunately, none of the solutions work for me. The month stays at February ("02") no matter how I move between the other months. Since I am using the desktop version, I cannot use the Incognito window solution. This is the first year that e-File has not worked for me in nearly 20 years. I will continue to e-File Federal but now will need to print and manual file State return. I hope this gets fixed for next year.
