This happens to me as well. I first tried it from an Amazon download, and then directly from theTurbotax website. Can't get any help from Turbotax. I've been using this software for at least 20 years, and have never had a problem like this. Are they asleep at the switch
I had the same problem.
I fixed the problem by removing Microsoft Visual C++.
I am using Windows 11.
Go to settings then select apps and then select installed apps. You can then uninstall the Visual C++ app(s). I had several copies of Visual C++ installed.
You also have to uninstall Turbo Tax 2025.
After that, you have to reinstall Turbo Tax 2025. During the installation you will see that Turbo Tax reinstalls Microsoft Visual C++.

This did NOT work for me. Same error when clicking on 'Done with Income'. If I restart, and then jump to Deductions and Credits, same error with clicking 'Done' . What a piece of junk.
I have done all of the above, and it did not resolve the problem. This is an obvious TurboTax bug, and the problem lies in the processing of the W-2 information. I have maxed out my 401k contributions, which is $31,000.00. If I don't enter Box 12 Code D from my W-2, all seems to work fine. I then did 'Back', updated the W-2 Box 12 Code D and entered $10,000.00, then all still seems to work fine. Back again, updated to $20,000.00, again, all works fine. Back, and updated to $30,000, and again, all good. Back again, entered $31,000.00, and it fails when clicking 'Done with Income'. Restart, enter $30,500 (the 2024 max), and all good. Back, and enter 30,501, and hangs and crashes!!!!
I can't duplicate your error so it looks like everything is working fine now. Several updates to the program were run out this week so hopefully that solved your problem.
@RobertB4444 As of two nights ago, when I was on the phone with support and the resolution desk, it was **not** working. As of last night, there was not an update. Tonight however there was an update, and the problem seems to be resolved now.
The issued (as explained to me by the resolution desk is/was they had not yet received updates from the IRS, and recommended to retry it after January 26, which is the deadline to have everything from the IRS. Apparently the 401k update happened already.
Rollin,
Perfect advice! This worked exactly as you mentioned. Thank you!
I hit the same issue when I went back to TurboTax 2024 to update my tax return. To correct it, I similarly had to remove the last few versions of Visual C++ Redistributable, uninstall TurboTax 2024, restart Windows, reinstall TurboTax 2024 and follow its prompts to install updates (including the latest Visual C++ Redistributable), and then it finally worked again.
