TurboTax Isn't Giving me the Option to File for 2024 (only 2023)

I used TurboTax Online to file my taxes for the 2022 tax year.

For the 2023 tax year, I didn't use TurboTax and instead had a tax professional do them for me.

Now, I want to go back to using TurboTax again to file my 2024 taxes... but the only option available to me in the online interface is "Start my 2023 return."

There literally is NO way (that I can see) to start a 2024 tax return, and I can't find ANYTHING in any help articles about how to solve this. There seems to be no way around it, which seems like a huge flaw in the system.

Anyone know a way around this?

Correct. Online for 2024 is not yet up and running. It could be a matter of just a few more weeks.

Not until the online (2024) versions are released. Only the 2024 desktop versions have been released.

Just to be sure I understand:

I think you're saying that the "Stat my [year] tax return" will eventually update--but not till we get closer to the new year?

The download for the desktop software has just become available----but you need to use it on a full PC or Mac, not on any sort of mobile device.

DOWNLOAD (This requires a full PC or Mac—-cannot be used on a mobile device)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/

You can also purchase the CD/download from various retailers such as Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Sam’s Club, etc. etc. etc.

This link Where can I obtain authentic TurboTax software? has a list of authorized TurboTax resellers.

When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return.  You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return.  The state e-file fee is $20 and increases to $25 in March.

@gnorwood1 As already detailed in this thread, the desktop download software for 2024 is already available.   If you want to use the  2024 online software you will be able to do that in early December.  There will still be lots of updates to the software, and many federal forms and/or state forms will not be ready yet.
