TurboTax is telling me I should have got an additional 1400 for my son who was born in October

TurboTax upped my refund by $1,400 because it said that I "should have received $2,800 for the 3rd round stimulus. I did not receive $2,800 i got 1400 because I had no dependents. I had a son born in October 2021 which I am claiming on taxes this year and im guessing its including him in the dependent calculation. IE (1400 x 2)

Is this an error? Turbo tax is asking me straight up did i receive $2,800 and I have to say no or im lying... If i say no.. then it asks me how much i got and i put in $1,400 and its like congrats heres another $1,400..

I didnt realize this was probably a result of the dependent until after I submitted. Is this going to get kicked back?

First never file a return you are unsure of ... ask questions before not after filing.

Next,  you did nothing wrong ... the program gave you the $2800 credit at the beginning of the interview and then when you said you already got $1400 the refund was reduced by that amount which is correct.   Not only do you get the third stimulus for the child but you also get the Child Tax Credit which you will see on form 8812.

Save a PDF of the return now and review the entire return to see how the credits were calculated.

Q. Is this an error?

A. No.  The $1400 stimulus  is a 2021 tax benefit. The money received earlier was essentially an advance payment.  Any stimulus not paid in advance is claimed, as the "recovery rebate credit" on the 2021 tax return filed in 2022.  Dependents born in 2021 qualify for the rebate credit (as well as the child tax credit).

Q.  Is this going to get kicked back?

A. No.
