How does TurboTax calculate and track the BASIS in Traditional IRAs included in Part I of the "IRA Worksheet Information"? What is the source of the amount each year? And how reliable is it?

IRS wants you to keep paper copies of all Form 8606 showing basis for as long as you hold any funds in Traditional IRAs.
