I spent a coupe of hours doing my tax return with TurboTax free version.
I am 100% sure my case is free. I uploaded my w2 and 1099-INT lower than $1,500, which doesn't required any schedule.
When I completed the filing, suddenly TurboTax asked me to upgrade because I have foreign account, which I have none. Following advice from turbo community, I deleted uploaded 1099-INT, which might be misinterpreted or misread by Turbotax due to small size of letter there. Then, I typed the interest income amount. When I did that, Turbotax said I need to upgrade again because I have more than $1,500 interest and need schedule, which is not true. I don't understand what's wrong with Turbo. And I found many who had same or similar issue with Turbotax, whose are sued against forcing consumer to upgrade when they qualify for free.
I got so mad because I already spent so much time doing this, I encountered the same problem again and again, which is obviously bugs or do they really force us to upgrade? I am so sick of Turbotax at this point. I want to delete all my tax documents they hold for my previous years' tax return, but I don't see how.
If anybody has any idea, I welcome it.
