I have a pre-existing Roth to which I rolled over $47,500 from a 401(k) in 2021. The taxable amount in box 2a is $47,500. The single distribution code in Box 7 is G, which is the correct code as far as I can tell. Turbotax should be calculating taxes on this rollover, but it is not doing this. It is calculating taxes as if no taxes are due on this roll over, which is incorrect.

If it was a ROTH 401K rolled to a ROTH IRA then code G is correct. However if it was a reg 401K rolled to a ROTH IRA then the 1099-R code is WRONG ... tell them it is incorrect and have them correct it ... while you wait for the reissued form you can change the code to a 1 (7 if you are over the age of 59.5) so you can file a correct return.
If it was a Roth 401(k) to Roth IRA then the box 7 code would be an H and box 21 would be zero.
Since is is a 401(k) to Roth IRA, code G is the correct code and since there in an amount in box 2a that means that it must be a regular 401(k) to Roth IRA otherwise box 2a would be zero.
I think G is the wrong code. Check with 401K plan. Did they know it was going to a ROTH?

Code G is the correct code. Delete the 1099-R and re-enter. Be sure that you answer yet that it was a 401(k) to Roth IRA. It will also ask of you had any and contribution which should be in box 5 on the 1099-R if you did.
in Turbotax, another box needs to be checked. in interview mode you should have come to a question that you needed to check yes - this money was rolled over to a ROTH IRA.
if your using the desktop version then question B5 on the 1099R worksheet needs to be checked.
all G indicates is that this was a rollover. not whether it's taxable or not taxable.
