My child is on F2 visa, > 5 years in US, resident alien for tax purposes. Doesn't qualify for the Child Tax Credit (no SSN), but meets conditions for "qualifying child" (qualifies as $500 Credit for Other Dependents - “Family Tax Credit”). When I enter child's details in TurboTax, there is a citizenship question (with options for US citizen/legal resident; or non-resident). When I choose "non-resident", the system does not treat him as a dependent. Is there an option to for the child to quality for “Family Tax Credit”?
Thank you!

Did you enter an ITIN for your child?
@xmasbaby0 when I choose "none of the above" in citizenship question, there is no option to enter ITIN, just a note that child does not qualify as dependent
If you do not enter a SSN or an ITIN for your child you cannot get the $500 credit.
You can claim a child, relative, friend, or fiancé (etc.) as a dependent on your taxes as long as they meet the following requirements:
Qualifying child
Qualifying relative
@Critter-3 my child is not US citizen, but US resident alien (for tax purposes). My child also meets all other requirements
The issues is that TurboTax has citizenship question only (i.e. no option to choose "US resident alien"). Once you answer 'no' (for US citizenship) - the child is not not considered a dependent
Oh good grief ... legal resident is the same thing as US resident alien ... please choose that option.
