If your TurboTax program is not letting you pay for your tax return, please try the following:

  • Sometimes simply signing out and signing back into your TurboTax account can clear this.
  • Clear your cache and delete your cookies. Click here for How to clear your cache. Click here for How do I delete cookies?
  • Also try a different web browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox.
  • And try using incognito mode (private browsing).
  • If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can try the following:
  • Run the program as an administrator.
  • Set your display scaling to 100% in Windows Display Settings.
  • Make sure your software is updated by clicking "Online" in the top menu and selecting "Check for Updates."
  • Some other payment issues fixes you can try are as follows:
  • Verify that your Billing Address for your credit card exactly matches your address that your financial instituion has on file.
  • Make sure that your address matches your address in your "My Info" section of TurboTax.
  • Disable any ad blockers or antivirus programs that could be blocking the secure payment screen.
  • You can contact TurboTax Customer Service using this link: Turbo Tax Customer Service or you can call us at 800-446-8848.

I've tried all the things you mention for the past two days with 5 different advisors. NONE work ... this is a recurring issue every year for past 5 years that INTUIT made worse this year by not giving the customers an option in the desktop software to "pay-by-phone" as it did in prior years since this is an ongoing issue with the desktop software.  It's completely ludicrous that you don't have a workaround to a known issue which is all over your website from many frustrated users dating back to 2020. As a shareholder I find this deficiency to be unacceptable and you force users to file manual state returns in what is supposed to be an automated on-line filing system.

Please leave a message for the developers when you file.
Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab.

If you need extra time, filing an extension by April 15, 2026, moves your submission deadline to October 15.  See if you need to file a state extension
