Turbotax Deluxe Bug. Form 8829, Line 11b

Form 8829, line 11b.  entering value over 40,000 triggers error: SALT amounts limited to 40,000.

The SALT limitation has nothing to do with form 8829. There is no error.  This issue will prevent me from electronically filing. Please fix!!!

The SALT limit DOES have to do with line 11a/b.  Amounts above the SALT limit would be on line 17.

Have you tried going through the interview so TurboTax has all of the information needed to calculate your Home Office Deduction?   Where do I enter the home office deduction for my business?

Column B is for indirect expenses that benefit the entire home, so those have to be pro-rated based on business use percentage.   If the business use percentage is not entered, the form will not correctly calculate.

Can I take the home office deduction?

I have entered everything on the form correctly, including business percentage use.  If I enter real estate taxes value of 40,000 on either line 11a or 11b everything is fine without error.  Entering any value over 40,000 in either 11a or 11b gives the SALT limit error, but that doesn't apply to this form.  Look into this further.

Try entering $40,000 on Line 11b and the remainder of your real estate taxes under "Other Expenses" (Line 21) or a similar miscellaneous indirect expense category within the Home Office interview. Label it clearly as "Real Estate Tax - Excess." This keeps the math accurate without hitting the specific Line 11 validation requirement.
