TurboTax Deluxe 2025 Desktop Crash on Clicking Done with Income

After completing all Income steps and clicking "Done with Income," TurboTax freezes, crashes and restarts every time.

I've traced the issue down to my W-2 - Box 12, Code AA.

I maxed my Roth 401k contribution for 2025 at $23,500 which is entered in Box 12, Code AA.

With this set accurately at 23,500, TurboTax crashes when I click "Done with Income." If I lower it to a value 23,000 or lower, I am able to click "Done with Income" and move on to Deductions.

I appreciate any ideas since I am unable to file with this issue. Thanks!

TurboTax Deluxe 2025 Desktop Crash on Clicking Done with Income

I posted a W-2 with $22,500 in Box 12 Code AA in the Desktop software and it did not give me the same result.

Can you provide any more details?

  • What is your AGI? Line 11A of your 1040
  • Do you have other retirement accounts?
  • Did you take any distributions from retirement accounts?

I'm grasping at straws, because I'm not sure what happened.

22,500 worked fine for me but 23,500 caused the crash. The issue was with anything above 23,000.

Regardless, the update released around 1/22 seemed to have fixed it. After the TT update installed I entered 23,500 and no longer saw the issue.

I appreciate the response.
