What error message are you seeing with the IRS rejection?  If you had insurance through the marketplace you must enter your 1095-A form in order to efile.

Here are some pointers on entering your 1095-A.

I am having the same issue. Was rejected, fixed errors regarding health coverage, now just crashes every time I try to transmit returns.

Count me in with this issue as well. I've tried repairing the software, uninstalled and re-installed the program and keep getting  the same results.

Sometimes you need to clear your cache (that is, remove these temporary files) because a full or corrupted cache can cause problems in TurboTax.  You can try these steps if you are using the online version:

  • Clearing your Cache and Cookies
  • Using a different browser
  • Opening an Incognito Window

So here's the answer you're not going to want to hear having paid for e-file but I exhausted every option that even AI could help me try, so I just gave up and printed and mailed with a cover letter that says my rejected returns via e-file were in error.  I believe the (in my opinion) oddly worded shift from "No, I don't have any 1095-A forms" to "Yes, I promise I don't" radio buttons in TurboTax tripped me up and I answered "No" to both and mistakenly saved and filed.  From what I can gather, this added an 8962 form and sets off a "flag" at the IRS that they're expecting that you used Marketplace.  Several calls to the IRS, the healthcare.gov Marketplace and TurboTax support were completely pointless.  Because that flag is there, TurboTax crashes when trying to transmit again.  Adding an 8962 and 1095-A with $1 added to January allowed the return to transmit but was rejected right after.  Very frustrating that simply fixing my forms wasn't enough.

Yes, this reject happens when your return is missing Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement. The IRS compares the information you enter on your return with what they have in their database. When something is missing or mismatched, your return gets rejected. The IRS internal database indicates that a Form 1095-A should have been or will be received by the taxpayer.

If you are sure that no one on the return was on an ACA Marketplace plan, you can follow the steps below to certify that you did not receive a 1095-A:

  1. Select Federal from the left menu, then Deductions & Credits.
  2. Navigate to Medical and select Show More.
  3. Select Start or Revisit next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  4. You'll be asked if you received a 1095-A. Select No.
  5. Select the statement indicating you did not receive a 1095-A. By selecting this certification, you will be able to e-file your return and meet the requirements of reject code F8962-070.
  6. Select File from the left menu and continue through the process to resubmit your return.

If after you do this, you have trouble submitting your return, follow the steps in my previous post.  Please reach back if your problem persist.

Oh, believe me I tried that.  Multiple times.  TurboTax crashed every single time I clicked the "Transmit Returns" button.  I don't use Marketplace, have never used Marketplace and called Marketplace multiple times to verify that neither myself nor my spouse had a profile at healthcare.gov.  Getting rid of the 1095-A and having the ACA Explanation letter form in the return always resulted in crashing

This is my exact problem, too. The same thing happened last year & it went through the second time with no issues. This year, when I fixed the problem, transmitted the return & my TurboTax software desktop just shuts down. Please don’t tell me I have to file on paper! That’s ridiculous! TT needs to fix this!

What about the desktop version? Is it the same?

I’ve done all of this, multiple times. I spent 1.5 hrs on the phone with TT customer service & IT. They ended with “wait a couple of hours & try again. If it doesn’t work, you’ll have to file with paper.” That is not a valid answer. Your software is glitching, you need to fix it! The reason I’ve used TT for almost 20 years is because of reliability, if it’s not reliable any more, I’ll use another company.

Agreed! Fix your software.

However, I would like to know if I can simply start a brand new return and submit that instead of trying to fix the existing return. I really don't want to re-do it, but would rather do that then try to get it printed and sent in.

Same exact problem, there seems to be no way to fix this. PLEASE HELP TURBOTAX DESKTOP TEAM..!

There is for sure a bug in the software that needs to be fixed.

Because the IRS received the return & rejected it, I think that they will reject anything other than that file with the corrected info.  I'm not sure, haven't gotten through to IRS yet.  Please let us know if you find out that's a possibility!

In my opinion, TT should have caught the error, if there was one, before transmitting returns.  Since we didn't use the ACA insurance in 2025, it shouldn't reject only because we used it in 2024.

Have you checked your Marketplace account just to be sure they don't have a 1095-A for you? This reject is coming from the IRS and their records show you should have this form included.
