My RDP and I are each filing as single for the federal form. In my return, Turbotax keeps asking about my spouse's information. This is not happening for his return. How can I correct this problem?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Go back to Personal Info and edit your information. You must have selected Married as your filing status and it needs to be changed to Single.
I realized I just had to click on SAVE, and the problem resolved itself. This is the desktop version, and it doesn't refresh unless you hit save.
Actually, It seems to be fixed only in one place (the W2s did it stop asking). Later on when asking for 1099s, it still asks. I think I know the issue. When I was uploading info for my RDPs return, I still had my acct open and it accidentally got added to my return. I deleted it, but now TurboTax thinks it's a joint return. I think I might have to start over unless I can fix this.
By the way, I DID select SINGLE in the Personal Info section.
Finally - I believe it is corrected. I just had to go back to the beginning and confirm everything, step by step, and save it. TurboTax is no longer asking about a spouse.
