TurboTax receives no information whatsoever from the IRS once the tax return has been accepted by the IRS.  If the IRS changes your tax return or you have a past debt to be paid, then TurboTax would have no knowledge of this.

The TurboTax account fees are for the use of the software to assist in completing a tax return.  The fees are not based on whether or not you receive a tax refund or have taxes owed.

Why is my refund different than the amount on the tax return I filed?
All or part of your refund may have been used (offset) to pay off past-due federal tax, state income tax, state unemployment compensation debts, child support, spousal support, or other federal nontax debts, such as student loans. To find out if you may have an offset or if you have questions about an offset, contact the agency to which you owe the debt.

We also may have changed your refund amount because we made changes to your tax return . You’ll get a notice explaining the changes.  Where’s My Refund?  will reflect the reasons for the refund offset when it relates to a change in your tax return.

What was wrong?

Turbo Tax is a self prepared return.  It has no way of knowing or checking that you entered something wrong or in the wrong place or entered something twice  Or left something out.  It doesn't check against any outside sources.  The IRS has copies of all the W2s and 1099s your employer and banks/brokers, etc. sent in to match against.  Turbo Tax only checks the calculations of what you entered.   It is your responsibility to check it over before you file.  They only Guarantee that the calculations are right based on the entries you made.

Thats the excuse they use. Trying to pin it on the IRS when I have proof it was them. They took money from my refund and refuse to give me a refund. They try to trap you into upgrading which I never did nor filed what they said I did and took $90 more than supposed upgrade. Scammers
