I'm getting two messages: One tells me that I have an error message 17001 and the other simply tells me that Turbo Tax encountered a problem and shuts down. I've finished the income section and am preparing to do deductions and credits. Help!

There is a problem with how TurboTax is interacting with your computer. If clearing your cache and trying a different browser does not work, your only other option is to log onto your TurboTax program using a different computer or mobile device.
