Turbo tax program freezes when trying to open on mac

My turbo tax won't open. When I try to open Turbo Tax, a window pops up saying "We recommend installing these updates". When I press the install button, after a few sentences in freezes on the in the window that says "extracting updates." This is very problematic as I need to refile my 2019 taxes -- federal, and New York becuase I made an entry error on my son's social security number. have tried opening the file many times -- on my Mac, my wife's mac and on the PCs of two of my kids. Please advise. Thanks

First, restart the Mac if you have not done that.

Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file.

The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install. That will not delete or change any .tax2019 data file that had already been created with the tax data.

To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.
