My wife and I file jointly. We both receive SS. I entered my SS amount and my wife's. I also enter the IRA distribution for 2025. On the income summary it is correct.. On the page that provides taxable income it is substantial lower. I can see where my 12,000 senior deduction is. But the summary is not correct. It looks like the summary is not adding in my SS. I took my SS income to 0.00. Then added it back in again.
No change. The total income won overview of taxes is lower by a lot.
Did the Trump no tax on SS go through :)?????
I phoned to get technical support. No help. I was unable to speak to a person.
I have used Turbotax for a number of years with no problems.
This year I can not file my with Turbo tax. Any suggestions for an alternative?

After you entered your SSA1099's the screen right after that asked if you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025. If you skipped past that screen without answering or answered incorrectly, your SS is not being taxed correctly.
I went back and check. I answered no for both my wife and myself. I checked all the following questions. Answered them all. We get CPP as well . I was told to add the Canada Pension amounts to the SS amounts I did that. It appears my wifes number are correct and my SS amount is not added into the total. On the page that totals just the SS and IRA numbers it is correct. When it gets to the final summary it is not
The new "Senior Deduction" is a separate deduction for taxpayers age 65 and older regardless of whether they have Social Security income, but with an upper limit on overall income. Taxpayers who are at least 65 years old can claim a deduction of up to $6,000 on their tax return. If you’re married and your spouse is also 65 or older, the maximum deduction is $12,000 – but married couples must file a joint return to claim the deduction.
Whether your Social Security is taxable depends on the amount of your other income. If your other income is less than the threshold, none of your Social Security will be taxed. This calculation has not changed. See this TurboTax help article for more information about how Social Security benefits are taxed.
See this TurboTax tips article for more information about the Senior Deduction and other changes that affect 202 tax returns.
