Turbo tax Me vs Spouse

At some point over the years Turbo tax switched who it addresses and who the "spouse" is.  What is this based on?   How can I be the filer and my spouse be the "spouse"? Historically we have filled " married filing jointly"  This year is looking like we may file "Married filing separately".

It is usually better for tax purposes to file married filing jointly.

You can change the spouse on the personal info tab in TurboTax, just overwrite the information

The link does not address how to do this on the web based version.  I do not see a personal information tab in the top left.

If you already filed in Turbotax Online, you may be able to login to turbotax.com in "google chrome" on your phone, and click amend change return, and the Personal Info tab will be at the top. "Safari" may work also. If the amend change return option is not available due to the timing of the year, you may need to download TurboTax Desktop to achieve this, using this link https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/.

If you already paid for the product, you can call TurboTax, and an agent can assist you with the download.

I have been through the software as mentioned above, and was able to verify that the Personal Info tab was there. It is a possibility you may need to login and click "tax home" to get to the section.

In the Online version it is the My Info tab.  You must have changed the order of names yourself years ago.  Or you started a new account one year and reversed the names.   If you did switch the  names it could mess up many areas of your return so it is recommended NOT to switch the taxpayer and spouse.  Better check over your returns and make sure all the income is assigned to the right spouse.  Especially when you do 2022, watch close who each W2 & 1099 is assigned to.
