My daughter worked a bit for a restaurant and her W-2 shows $631.50 in boxes 1, 5 and 16 with $39.15 in Social Security tax withheld (box 4). I have entered and reentered these numbers to be accurate. However, Turbo Tax flags it and tells me she overpaid her social security and lists her income as $601.50 and Social Security tax as 37.29. I have no idea where it's coming up with these numbers.

What is in Box 3 and Box 7 on that W-2? Those boxes are what determine what should be in Box 4.

Box 3 is $376.50 and Box 7 is $255, which totals $631.50. However, I went back and checked and I had incorrectly entered the $255 as $225, which is where the $601.55 came from. This one is on me. Thanks for helping me clarify this and get it entered correctly. Your help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
